  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

Lazy hazy crazy days of summer.

I'll sleep in until noon tomorrow in your honor and spend the rest of the day watching BSG reruns on my computer.

Hope the wedding is lovely. And looking forward to your graduation party! I'm tuning up my fiddle.

I miss those days too Claire. I used to be a fish at the pool. Used to be there from the time it opened till the time it closed. Yep, the smell of chlorine instantly takes me back.

I hope you're enjoying the wedding! Beautiful day here! Hope it is there, too.

Happy summer!
